Turbo Jam™ Featured Move: The "W"

General Description:

The "W" refers to the "guard" position we use in Turbo Jam™ (Kick™) to increase upper-body toning. We've named it "W" because when held in this position, it is a simple way to improve abdominal and back strength without even thinking about it. You will see this position used throughout Turbo Jam™ (Kick™) workouts.

Primary Muscle Group Target:

Obliques, latissimus dorsi, and rhomboids.

To Perform:

Start in Turbo Tuck position and frame your body with your forearms.

  1. Bring your left arm across your chest, so your fist is under your chin, with the back of your fist facing out, forearms facing in. Keep your elbow near or behind the left rib cage, framing the ribs. Your right arm opens up, fist up, forearm facing out, elbow at rib level. Your arms will form the letter "W".

  2. Switch

Always keep your "W" in front of you, pointed in the direction you are kicking or looking.

*The W is a Turbo Jam™ featured move and is taken from the Turbo Results fitness and nutrition guide contained in the Turbo Jam™ infomercial and is a position used in many live Turbo Kick™ classes.

Start Teaching Now! Learn How!

Ever wonder how to start your fitness career?

Here are some pointers...

First, follow your passion and a really good instructor. If you love yoga, Pilates, an athletic blend like PiYo™... find an instructor that you can mentor with. This is a great opportunity to teach part of a class with them there for help while you are getting your feet wet.

Second, depending on where you want to teach. You may need to get a general group exercise certification. A certification that prepares you to teach a safe, well rounded class to the general population. Whether you are required or not, it is a good idea to get this type of certification. It teaches you how to modify and teach a safe, effective class format. The 2 most popular on the west coast are AFAA, Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, or ACE, American Council on Excercise.

Third, get a specialty certification in the area you feel passionate about. Love kickboxing? Get a Turbo Kick™ Certification. Love a challenging, athletic, sweaty, hard core,
mind/body format? Get a PiYo™ Cerification.

Fourth, put the ego away. Never, ever, ever stop learning. Never stop pursuing knowledge. Never think you have it all.

Now... You are ready. Ready, set, pursue your fitness career.
